Dominic and Hailey's finish.....

I was so looking forward to this sequel. Stolen Donor is an excellent read! Dark, dark, and more dark! This story fell flat compared to the first book. Maybe the time lapse between the two books negatively impacted this story.

I wasn't expecting the division between Dominic and Hailey. If they could overcome the massive crap in Stolen Donor and survive, nothing should have touched them. However, the smallest things seem to divide the two in this story. The story did not detail enough interaction between the two. The story appear as if they're living in separate households leading separate lives and only come together for sex.

The story is really choppy. The choppiness made it difficult to bond with the characters and sympathize with Dominic and Hailey's issues.

Stolen Book 2: the rest of Hailey and Dominic's story

I was anxious to get my hands in this book after loving Stolen Donor for its unique plot and dark suspense. Be aware that this is not a standalone. In the first book, Dom stalked then kidnapped Hailey. He was in need of a liver transplant and she was a match. After watching her for so long, he was obsessed. For Hailey, it was a rocky road from prisoner to wife and mother. This is the continuation of Hailey and Dominic's story.

Hailey and Dominic travel to in New York with their new baby, Elliana. Hailey had been promised a life out in the open, but it didn't work that way. They become the center of attention when news breaks hinting to her kidnapping and the truth of their beginning. Dominic is also distracted. In the last year his only agenda had been to obtain a new liver, but now that he is healthy old obsessions come to light, mainly the disappearance of his parents. He hides so much from Hailey and his lies and deceits threaten their fragile marriage.

Although I really love the first book and respect the theme, this book was a bit disappointing for me. It felt like a different author wrote it, to be honest. I struggled to get into it and even then I couldn't get as fully invested in the lead characters. I just didn't feel the same angst and suspense.

As with the first book, this is told for both Hailey and Dominic's POVs. It almost felt like two separate stories. I couldn't feel the emotional connection between the couple even in the midst of very erotic, dominant sexual scenes. The epilogue does give a lovely glimpse into their happy ever after.

Reading is a very personal experience. This is only my opinion. I encourage you to read others reviews.

Just ok for me.

This book wasn't as good for me as the first book was. Dominic was colder and more withdrawn in this installment and Hailey was not portrayed as strong as she was before. This story centered on them relocating after her kidnapping became public. I'm sorry but I have to say I skipped a lot in this book because it was boring me. I liked the beginning (somewhat) and the end of the book. It was just ok for me.

Making Happiness Real

While I am a spiritually-oriented psychotherapist whose middle name is "Personal Growth," I realized reading this book that the words "happiness," "peace" and "joy" are still somewhat ideal abstractions for me-or, worse-Hallmark fare. It is a tribute to the Dwoskin/Levenson material that halfway through the book, I thought: Happiness is Real...Peace and Joy is Real-and I have been making it harder than it is.
Many of us know by now that True Self is good-Ego is not so good. This is the first book I've seen that addresses this without veering into the too abstract or too conventional. Thinking about Ego in terms of our addiction to Problem and it's flipside, Problem-Solving, was illuminating to me, and seems to hold the key for achieving the ever-illusive state of relaxation that seems to be the background problem for all of us.
Rarely does a book offer such a user-friendly "how-to," in the dismantling-the-ego-department. I wouldn't have thought it was possible, but the material shared here, from what the authors call The Sedona Method, truly operationalizes happiness. To me this is genius.

Happiness Is Free: And It's Easier Than You Think!

It is not often that a book comes along that carries a message that rings with the truth from the universal source. This book easily and comfortably shows the reader how to go to the depths of one's beingness, the place from which springs eternal peace. I am a practicing psychologist, and have learned to use this approach for myself, and for most of my clients. I have never seen such rapid, deep, and pervasive shifts in my clients and myself, as I have seen by using this method. I have used many techniques over the past 30 years; I always come back to this one. There is no need to do what I call "psycho-archeological digs" into one's past to attain that which is available to all of us now, in the present moment. If you have not read this book, I suggest you do so at your first opportunity. Whether you're a healing professional, a business person, a student, a housewife, a very curious teenager, or anyone else whom I can or can't think of--purchase this book now, sit down, and read yourself into a state of peace.

A Seven Week Program to Help Attain Happiness

This is Book 1 of what is advertised as a 5 book series, but I haven't come across the other titles. The authors are pioneers of The Sedona Method for releasing feelings as a means of attaining peace. This book contains 7 chapters that are designed to be read on a weekly basis, with blank pages for notes and observations between each chapter. There is some good advice in this book, that should fit pretty well into many belief systems. Although much of the book can be described as monotheistic, the philosophy is fairly inclusive. Some of the terminology is a bit dated, since the book is based on workshops that Lester Levinson conducted around 30 years ago. If you want a more comprehensive approach to this topic, you might explore the book, The Sedona Method, by the same authors.

Worthwhile

Buy this to get a feel of the land, not to reference quick information about an area. There are no specific boundaries, just regional approximations, and mimimal information about each area.

There are two kinds of maps, topography and layer-tint. I didn't find the topography map useful, but the layer -tint ones are great. They've used color to represent depth/height to a very precise level. Most maps are represented three times - Layer tint for 2 periods (different names) and topography combined.

Its all based on two maps, Holy Land South and Holy Land North and uses the same key of 20-odd place names throughout. The next section is a decreased scale of the same map, so of course its divided into an increasing quantity. Etc. The HL S and HL N maps are 1:650,000, then you go down to 1:275,000 & 1:150,000/100,000, all based on NASA information.

There are 8 panoramic photos in most sections. There's virtually no text. (Apparently thats in volume 2.) Both are very difficult to find. Sunday Software sells the first one. [...]
A cd comes with Volume 1 that you can 'fly over' the land. I wouldn't buy it separately for the topography flying. The layer tint flying is great. It also has six or eight great photos of each region (e.g. Judean Shephelah) and many of places. You can measure area, length, etc. and fly at different altitudes. There is text describing each place which is nice, since the atlas has none.

This is a two-volume work with one ISBN. How confusing!

Both volumes are beautiful, but make sure you know which one you are getting.

VOLUME 1 has a white cover.

VOLUME 2 has a black cover.

Victorian high seas adventure novel

A great period novel for boys, girls, moms and dads. It was very popular in decades past and is at least as much fun as, say, Treasure Island or Tarzan. Although this book takes place in the Elizabethan period and was written in the Victorian era, some Catholic reviewers below seem to feel that the novel lacks a 21st century sanitized viewpoint about Catholicism/Spanish imperialism. I've heard the same sort of argument made regarding the stereotype of Jim in Huckleberry Finn. Similarly in cowboy movies the Indians are usually portrayed as the bad guys (we now know, of course, that this is simplistic at best); likewise, the Spaniards in this book are the bad guys. It shouldn't be too tough to infer that all Catholics aren't bad, unless one is a simpleton. My family is Catholic and we all love the book. This is a fine adventure for young adults that is so much better than the product on most bookshelves today. The wonderful N. C. Wyeth illustrated edition is the one to get.

Fantastic Story of the Spanish Main

While all the accusations that Kingsley rails against the Catholics are true, the characters in Westward Ho! would not have treated the Roman Catholic Spaniards any better. After all, Philip did wish to bring his inquisition to England and England had just endured Bloody Mary (not the drink, the queen of England who re-introduced Catholocism to protestant England) and it is no wonder that the people would react harshly to the Spaniards. That said, Kingsley does get just a bit carried away, but it makes a fantastic story. Swashbuckling, naval battles, fair maidens, heathen Spaniards, the Spanish Main and its treasures: all this Kingsley combines in a well-written memorable tale with endearing characters and strong passions. Westward Ho! stands out in my mind as powerful literature principally because it tackles a complex and often unexpected plot. This may have all the action of an Errol Flynn movie (and it does) but it also has an intelligent plot and strongiy delineated characters. A fantastic read.

And the N.C. Wyeth paintings are fabulous as usual.

An enormously popular novelist during his time.

Kingsley was extremely popular during his lifetime in the nineteenth century, but his works have somewhat fallen into obscurity now. He is well worth taking up again. His books are deeply embedded in the Victorian way of life, so he is very much a writer for his own time. Kingsley wrote quite a few books, but "Westward Ho!" has always been his most popular. It is a story of adventure on the high seas and beyond. The book starts in England, but his hero, Amyas Leigh is a sailor, and the book covers his trip to the West Indies and South America. Amyas meets many unique people and experiences many adventures before he finds himself back on "Jolly Old's" shores. Although a bit preachy, the story is pretty good and certainly kept my interest.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this series!

Oh holy freaking hell!!! Cleo had me on the edge of the seat with this last part in the Shark Shifter series.

Koenraad and Monroe are mated and ready to get marry. If there wouldn't be the problem with Brady, Koenraad's first son who's unpredicatable. The fact that Monroe is pregnant changes not only their lust and need for each other, but also Brady.

The sick is still in the ocean and an unsolved problem. Koenraad still believes that Darius and Victoria have something to do with it. Trying to figure everything out, Victoria's will to fight Monroe after shark rules is also hanging over their heads.

Monroe's trip to New York reveals a lot of problems and questions and anxiety. Although it's the last book in the series, I wasn't quite sure if Cleo would give them finally their HEA.

So it's no surprise that this book had me all kinds of anxious and biting my nails. On top of it, we've got another very hot mating scene. Oh holy freaking wet panties, Cleo knows how to write them.
I love her writing and her way to make you feel all those emotions. Am a bit sad it's over, but thankfully there's a spin-off on the horizon...or so Cleo said ;)

Wonderfully different!

Although this review is under Shark Burn, the 5th book in the series, this review is for the series as a whole. I am an avid reader of supernatural romance. I thought I had read every type of sifter story out there, but this was a wonderful new spin. I didn't know how being a shark shifter would effect the romance, but it was HOT!! Seriously hot and I loved that the author stayed true to the shifter nature of the shark. There were no apologies made, Monroe accepted him for who he was. I also loved that Monroe was afraid of being in the ocean. Koenraad was wonderful trying to ease her fears. What was so great was that I could put myself in her shoes, really can you imagine being in the ocean next to a giant great white shark? Even if you knew it wouldn't eat you, it's not an easy thing to overcome. The relationship between the main characters was strong and continued to grow from book to book. Although it was nice to see the focus being on the two main characters and Koenraad's son Brady, the external storyline of the water being poluted was weak. I felt that there were to many loose ends left at the end of book 5, not necessarily so many unanswered questions, but things that I wished were fleshed out more (hope there is a book 6). Trying not to give anything away is hard, but I can say that after Monroe's first encounter with Koenraad's family, I'd like to see what their next meeting was like. I also want to see more of the interaction between Monroe and Brady. The relationship storyline I give a solid 5 stars. The external story surrounding the couple needed a little more work, solid 3 stars. This was such a fresh new take on shifters and I loved the main characters. I hope to see more of this couple and the shark shifters as a whole. If you love shifter romances and are looking for something different, read this series!

I don't know what I was expecting from a "shifter" book about sharks, but I was more than pleasantly surprised. Cleo is an excellent writer with a knack for descriptive storytelling, well-developed characters, and hot sex scenes. I very rarely spend money on Kindle books, since I'm a member of KU, but I was so hooked by the first book, that I paid for and devoured the rest of the series in a matter of two days. The twists kept me guessing all the way to the end, and I was drawn to the female character for her strong, human emotion. These books impressed me so much that I have started reading other books by this author. Highly recommend!
